On a dairy farm, bedding expenses, equipment life, and waste management considerations are significant factors. WasteSolver reduces these distractions. And if you have a methane digester, WasteSolver delivers additional benefits.
The WasteSolver system can dramatically decrease bedding costs, lower waste management labor costs, increase equipment life, and can help you increase herd size and milk production without hitting regulatory nutrient effluent limits. WasteSolver accomplishes this through proprietary technology. Fine sand and approximately 50% to 70% of suspended solids are captured, depending on dairy configurations. The natural, pasteurization type treatment used by WasteSolver is a low cost and environmentally friendly alternative to row compost. The natural WasteSolver treatment preserves nearly 100% of solids for bedding and excess may be sold to Sustainable Solutions, the manufacturer of WasteSolver.
In the first step, slurry is pumped into the hydro-cyclone where a low-pressure vortex separates sand from the manure stream. The sand free slurry then moves to separate hydro-cyclones where a high-pressure vortex destroys weed seeds and separates solids from liquids. Liquid, including pathogens and dissolved salts, is returned either to the collection pit or lagoon. Solids flow to a screw press where additional moisture is extracted.
Dry-to-the-touch solids from the press move to the WasteSolver Reactor: Inside the rotating drum, solids are tumbled and cleaned with naturally generated heat that reaches about 140 degrees for at least six hours. Solids are exposed to air during the tumbling process, which helps prevent creation of many harmful greenhouse gases that would result from row composting. Solids exit this natural, pasteurization type process within about 24 hours.
The result is uniform, comfortable bedding that is dry-to-the-touch and completely free of offensive odor. The process also reduces pathogens, insects and weed seeds. Sustainable Solutions has a program to buy excess solids from the dairy, and remove it from the farm.
It's really not waste anymore. It is a valuable resource to your operation.
Methane Digesters: WasteSolver can improve the efficiency of most methane digesters. Depending on the type of digester used, WasteSolver can be placed either before or after the digester. |
